Progress is ongoing at this large construction site, with crews actively setting rebar and pouring concrete for the foundations that will support the steel beams of the future hangars. Meanwhile, work is being done to advance the infrastructure for stormwater management, utilities, wastewater systems, and water lines. The most significant visual development at the moment is the pouring of the first phase of concrete for the aircraft parking areas, a task being handled by Summers Concrete Contracting Inc. from Hahira, Georgia.
Steel materials have begun arriving on-site, with the erection of the building set to start within the next 30 days. Barnhill Contracting and TA Loving Company, a Joint Venture to manage the project, sourcing resources and contractors across Eastern North Carolina and beyond.
Once complete, the complex will provide Fleet Readiness Center East, a Naval Aviation maintenance and repair depot under Naval Air Systems Command, space for maintenance operations on C-130s and other Air Force and Navy aircraft.
This project is expected to impact Eastern NC significantly, as it is set to bring over 400 jobs to the NC Global Transpark within the EDR region.
