Overview
The North Carolina Global TransPark Economic Development Region is seeking a Marketing and Communications Director to lead strategic regional marketing initiatives in collaboration with member organizations in Greene, Lenoir, and Wayne Counties, as well as the North Carolina Global TransPark.
This position is designed for a dynamic professional who is creative, detail oriented, and eager to learn new tools and technologies. The ideal candidate is a go getter who can manage multiple projects independently, lead creative efforts from concept to completion, and work effectively as part of a team. This person must be comfortable engaging with business leaders, community partners, and the public, and be committed to promoting the success of the region they represent.
This position reports to the Chief Operating Officer of the North Carolina Global TransPark Economic Development Region and works closely with the President and local economic development staff in each county. The position is based at the North Carolina Global TransPark office in Kinston, North Carolina and is NOT a remote position.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and manage high quality marketing campaigns to promote available industrial sites, buildings, infrastructure, regional workforce strengths, and other assets that showcase the region's value
• Design and produce print and digital marketing materials including flyers, social media content, presentation decks, reports, and promotional videos
• Write engaging and effective copy for newsletters, website updates, media releases, and promotional content
• Manage content and updates across websites, property listings, and social media platforms
• Collaborate with economic development staff from member organizations to support their specific marketing needs while maintaining a unified regional brand
• Capture and produce high quality photography and video content that represents the communities, industries, and people of the region
• Learn and utilize digital tools such as HubSpot CRM, GIS property listing software, and other platforms used in economic development marketing
• Build and maintain a library of templates, regional data, case studies, and marketing resources
• Monitor regional news, media coverage, and economic trends to inform messaging and strategy
• Serve as point of contact for media relations and general public communications
• Provide support to the President, North Carolina Global TransPark Economic Development Region staff, and member economic development staff as needed
Qualifications
• Associate degree in marketing, communications, graphic design, public relations, or a related field is required; a bachelor's degree is preferred
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a marketing, communications, or creative position
• Proficiency in Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar graphic design software
• Strong writing and copywriting skills for a variety of formats including print, digital, and media
• Experience in photography and video editing for professional and promotional use
• Comfortable learning and working with CRM systems and economic development platforms
• Excellent organizational and time management skills; able to balance multiple projects and deadlines
• Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work collaboratively with public, private, and nonprofit partners
• Valid driver’s license required
Work Environment
• This is a full time, in person role based at 2780 Jetport Road in Kinston, NC
• Standard office hours, with occasional early morning, evening, or weekend assignments
• Minimal regional travel required
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds of marketing or display materials
Salary and Benefits
Salary Grade 20 with an expected hiring range between $54,229.50 - $59,859.22
