Job Opening: Existing Industry Director for Greene and Lenoir Counties

Overview: The North Carolina Global TransPark Economic Development Region is seeking an Existing Industry Director to serve as the primary contact and advocate for all established industries within Greene and Lenoir Counties and at the North Carolina Global TransPark.
This position plays an essential role in maintaining the economic strength of our region by building lasting relationships with employers, understanding their needs, and helping them access the resources necessary to succeed and grow.

The ideal candidate will be professional, proactive, and passionate about serving the communities they represent. This position requires someone who is equally comfortable engaging with business leaders, local officials, and the workforce that keeps our industries moving forward.
This position is based at the North Carolina Global TransPark Economic Development Region office located at the North Carolina Global TransPark in Kinston, North Carolina and is not a remote position. The Existing Industry Director reports to the Chief Operating Officer and works closely with the President of the North Carolina Global TransPark Economic Development Region, county governments, and regional partners.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead a comprehensive Business Retention and Expansion program for industries in Greene and Lenoir Counties and at the North Carolina Global TransPark, including routine company visits, relationship management, and collaboration with Greene County, Lenoir County, and TransPark staff to address industry needs and support future growth.
• Maintain an updated database of all industries in the region and prepare periodic reports highlighting trends, challenges, and expansion activity.
• Coordinate with community colleges, workforce agencies, and state and local partners to support company training, workforce development, permitting, and infrastructure needs.
• Assist companies in pursuing grants and incentive programs offered through local, state, and federal agencies.
• Plan and coordinate Manufacturers Association meetings for both Greene and Lenoir Counties, along with other industry focused events such as appreciation luncheons, workforce roundtables, and recognition events.
• Promote and communicate the success of local industries through coordinated media and marketing outreach.
• Serve as a liaison between industry leadership, county governments, utilities, and state and regional partners to provide coordinated assistance and problem solving support.
• Attend County Commissioner meetings, public hearings, and community events as needed to represent local economic development interests.
• Assist the Chief Operating Officer and President of the NC Global TransPark Economic Development Region as needed on regional initiatives, projects, and communications.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Industrial Technology, Economics, or a related field, or at least three years of equivalent experience in government, business, industry, or economic development.
• Strong communication and relationship building skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs and basic data management.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines with attention to detail.
• Commitment to teamwork and collaboration with local and regional partners.
• Valid driver’s license required.
Work Environment
• This is a full time, in person position based in Kinston, North Carolina.
• Standard office hours with some evening or weekend commitments.
• Regular travel within Greene and Lenoir Counties and the North Carolina Global TransPark is required. Travel may include occasional overnight trips within North Carolina and rarely out of state.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds of materials for meetings and events.
• This position includes local government retirement and benefits.
Salary
Salary Grade 23 with an expected hiring range between $72,932.65 - $78,540.48.
